  The White River

The White River is so named because the limestone rocks in its bed sometimes give the water a white, milky colour. The river runs along the border of the two scenic parishes of St. Mary and St. Ann, twisting and turning its way through the rainforest to the town of Ocho Rios where it meets the sea.

As the river courses its way through White River Valley it forms rapids known as the Flipping Rapids and Spinning Rapids where tubers have the most fun. It creates peaceful, clearwater pools such as the tiny, partly hidden Maroon Jacuzzi which long ago was the haunt of playful lovers and adventurous bathers. The Blue Lagoon and the deep Ackee Hole Lagoon are larger pools also known for their incredible beauty and serenity.

The White River, owes much to the surrounding rainforest for its natural beauty. Countless species of trees and plants reach over the water to create a magnificent picture of tropical paradise. The Guava orchards, Coconut groves and magnificent Village of Flowers that line the river on the property only serve to enhance the scenery.

The White River offers the opportunity for adventure through our tubing and kayaking tours or it simply offers an ambience of tranquillity and natural beauty for the guest who has travelled far to experience what the tropics have to offer.
