  The Spanish Bridge

Historians will tell you that this bridge over the White River dates back to the 1600s, just before the British landed on Jamaica's shores to take the island from the Spanish. It is one of the lasting indicators of Spanish colonization in the valley. Not far away on the coast is the Rio Nuevo battle site where Spain and England fought their last decisive battle that ended in victory for the English. Spanish soldiers on their way to battle may well have used this old and historic bridge.

Today the bridge lies at the starting point of our tubing and kayaking rides but many guests travel there just to stand on this little piece of history and view the river and surrounding vegetation. A trip to White River should always include a photo opportunity at this attraction.
